Secret Moon Art

Yes, Moonrise at the Crossroads has been published here before and seems to show up in quite a few google searches. But since it's a favorite drawing of mine (even though I usually lean toward full color rather than black and white), I'm posting it now in honor of Autumn Equinox 2010 and the lovely Full Moon of last evening! Plus, since Halloween is almost upon us I am reminded that this image turns up rather well when people google terms like 'spooky art', too. Boo!

In a couple of weeks this pencil artist shall be Dallying with Dali at Atlanta's High Museum of Art! A favorite 'showman' artist of surrealism from my childhood, Salvador Dali's work is on display in Atlanta, Georgia, some of which has never before been viewed by the public. The exhibition is titled, 'Dali: The Late Work' so please click for more details. The image above is a detail from my drawing Ecology Woman , an effort which I am quite certain was inspired by my early interest in the surrealism of Salvador Dali, among others.

Not being a photographer any longer, I possess no garden photos of my own to publish here but writer Layla Morgan Wilde certainly does. Her feature I Garden, Therefore I Am is an organic marvel unto itself, and if you appreciate discovering an isle of calm in the midst of a crazy world, Layla's feature is not to be missed. Photo Collages always tend to catch my attention, too, of course, and multi-talented Layla has perfectly captured images and words of August's fading summer moments within a gilt-edged frame which will delight both viewer and reader! Here's a semi-completed close-up of my newest botanical drawing Creosote Blooming in Moonbeams drawn with my favorite oil and watercolour pencils on paper...moonbeams complimentary. If you can tell from this cropped little tidbit of an image, the style is my oft-used blend of Virgo-botanical and Pisces-visionary. This illustration is entitled, Pattillo Wakes at Moonrise . Well, of course he does. For he's an armadillo with a natural habit of foraging at night for ants and grubs! Mmm-m-m-m...yum yum. And here's Pattillo catching a little shut eye , making a pit stop on his journey to a greener clime.
