A 'Shroom Home on Silvery Tree Path!

Image
Printed several moons ago from a slide of an actual photograph, then saved and published, this image of my drawing 'Shroom Home on Silvery Tree Path is actually an illustration from the first children's (dummy) book written and drawn by yours truly. Over time the image had yellowed, in part due to the embossing I had applied with a "silver" oil pencil (which was aluminum - ex : the raindrops!) to the original drawing on black paper so I've adjusted the digital image's tone, saturation, etc., and present for you here what is hopefully a more viewable version of my drawing:

Why are Van Gogh's Sunflowers fading to Brown?

Image
Someone seems to have discovered the reason why over the years Vincent Van Gogh's famous yellow Sunflowers have been fading into a brownish haze. Don't leave us, Van Gogh's Sunflowers! Even if you are a floral symbol of monarchy ! (Sun = Leo = natural ruler = divine right of kings , as they think.) Well, truth is, I have no sunflowers about the place for publishing here but I can sympathize with one of my favorite master painters. If only he could be around to decry this unfortunate fading which is seemingly due to something Van Gogh added to his palette himself to make his colors...brighter! It's a sad and classic case of unintended consequences, right? This reminds me of some artwork I perpetrated in 1996, the first I'd drawn on black paper since high school art classes; then I had photos taken of the pieces which were transferred onto slides - no desktop publishing then, at least not for moi. But when I scanned the slides for my art files later on, I found that...

Great Lichen Forest with Fairy

Image
Here's a recent drawing inspired by my first children's book, Silvery Tree Path, which is all about the Great Lichen Forest. The main character in the story is grumpy Roscoe Woodhouse...plus, the Moon. Looks like a magical place, doesn't it? (c) Unscene World by jude cowell

Image
In honor of the Nov 24 Full Moon in Gemini--this year's Snow Moon --here's Pattillo Armadillo with sleepy stuff still in the corners of his tiny little eyes...appearing in a tableau called, Pattillo Awakens at Moonrise. secret moon art 2007, drawing by jude cowell

'Shroom Home by the Lake

Image
This drawing of a 'shroom home is a reject from my first-ever childrens book--or the dummybook actually--called, Silvery Tree Path ...just so you know. Looks cozy if you're elfin-sized or of the fairy persuasion.

Pattillo Reaches the Great Lichen Forest

Image
This drawing is from Pattillo Armadillo and the Dream of Green and shows a scene near the end of the story. You see Pattillo mustering his energy for the final leg of his journey...short little legs and all. You see, the Great Lichen Forest was an ancient growth and contained within the smaller Blue Tree Forest. Click on above title to stop by my pages at Gather.com, why doncha? We'll schmooze. Click on My Articles and look for one about Pattillo's dummybook and its journey to New York City...and alas, back home again a mere month or so later...but with a comlimentary Editor's Letter in tow in honor of his valiant exertions. At www.gather.com , tea or coffee are optional...or as Abraham Lincoln is said to have said so amusingly: if this is tea, bring me coffee. If this is coffee, bring me tea.
