Presenting: A Portrait of Vivika

May 20, 2020: Daringly, A Portrait of Vivika is now published to Secret Moon Art which is rather odd since the drawing was begun on December 7, 2003 and only tonight had finishing touches for scanning and sharing! Way back in 2003 I seem to have been in something of a psychedelic phase wth certain drawings and my imprint (my first art imprint online) was Unscene World which I considered a tip of the hat to Saturn for realism combined with Neptune for imaginary.

Why? Because of my Sun Capricorn-Moon Pisces personality blend! And of course, Neptunian creativity must have a Saturnian container to be poured into or it remains only a dream!

Nowadays I tend to call such drawings and sketches fanciful figure studies.

So here's A Portrait of Vivika:

Moonrise at the Crossroads now an art poster!

In time for Halloween 2010 and as per request, Moonrise at the Crossroads is now available to you as a 19" x 15" Bronze Matte UV wall art poster!

So does this drawing fall into the 'Spooky Art' category or is it simply another in my long line of Moon and Cosmic Art illustrations? I shall leave it for you to decide...

~:~

An Art Note: my original signature and imprints ~ Unscene World and Secret Moon Art ~ are visible at the bottom of this image. If you prefer that my hand lettering disappear from the art poster of 'Moonrise at the Crossroads' please convo me at: judecowell at gmail dot com with your request and I will upload a newer version to Jude Cowell Art Shop which will, however, crop off a small portion of the drawing. Thanks! jc

How about an Artful visit to an 'Isle of Ruins' ?

Isle of Ruins by Jude Cowell (c) Unscene World 2010+

This posting of Isle of Ruins is a 'noble re-publish' of one of my cosmic-themed drawings from 1996. After a morning of blogging @ my Political Astrology blog Stars Over Washington concerning proposed financial reform and Senator Bernie Sanders' amendment to Audit the Fed, the image of America in ruins is freshly imprinted on my mind and heart.

For as I've always blogged: forget the 'Ds vs Rs' - America is my only nag in the race!

Then there's my Scottish friend, astrologer Anne Whitaker and her family who recently sojourned on the magical Isle of Iona which I hear is an amazingly gorgeous and peaceful spot of great antiquity!

Here's a photo of a rocky Iona shoreline which Anne kindly sent along to me and yes, Anne, this Georgian is a little envious of your trip to such lovely and historic environs!

Circular Paths of an Unscene World

Circular Paths of an Unscene World, drawing by jude cowell 2008.

'Circular Paths' may refer to Astrology which is the observation and study of planetary orbits and cycles - as well as to labyrinths, of course. Actually, the entire sign of Capricorn is said to be a labyrinth, all 30 degrees of the mer-goat's sign.

Unscene World is an imprint I began in 1996 as black paper took over my drafting table and celestial themes became prominent...and I've never, as they say, looked back!

They also say that black paper gives depth and a spiritual quality you cannot achieve on white or light paper, and I must agree with them.

Here's an example of my early black paper art, Timeless Path, a drawing which won a Merit Award at one of the Olympic Games art venues in Atlanta, GA, summer 1996.

Timeless Path is appr 18"x24" (and was sold before the exhibition opened!) but these days my renderings are small enough to fit a scanner bed so that they may be easily published online for downloading and such, though sometimes I do miss working in a larger format.

My Favorite Pencils: Prismacolor oils, Rexel Derwent watercolours, and a few Spectracolor oils left over from the 90s. The Spectracolor brand, last I knew, was discontinued which for my purposes is a sad state of affairs.

(In fact, I remain to this day in quite a snit of miffdom over it.)

Watercolour pencils are used dry only although you could dampen them if you prefer. Anyone who is proficient or masterly with watercolour painting is a very admirable artist for that's one media I never managed to master even a little bit.

So if you, dear viewer, are good with wet watercolours, kudos aplenty go to you!

Great Lichen Forest with Fairy

Here's a recent drawing inspired by my first children's book, Silvery Tree Path, which is all about the Great Lichen Forest.

The main character in the story is grumpy Roscoe Woodhouse...plus, the Moon. Looks like a magical place, doesn't it?

Pattillo Reaches the Great Lichen Forest

This drawing is from Pattillo Armadillo and the Dream of Green and shows a scene near the end of the story. You see Pattillo mustering his energy for the final leg of his journey...short little legs and all.
You see, the Great Lichen Forest was an ancient growth and contained within the smaller Blue Tree Forest.
Click on above title to stop by my pages at Gather.com, why doncha? We'll schmooze. Click on My Articles and look for one about Pattillo's dummybook and its journey to New York City...and alas, back home again a mere month or so later...but with a comlimentary Editor's Letter in tow in honor of his valiant exertions.
At www.gather.com, tea or coffee are optional...or as Abraham Lincoln is said to have said so amusingly: if this is tea, bring me coffee. If this is coffee, bring me tea.
