Secret Moon Art

 

Printed several moons ago from a slide of an actual photograph, then saved and published, this image of my drawing 'Shroom Home on Silvery Tree Path is actually an illustration from the first children's (dummy) book written and drawn by yours truly. Over time the image had yellowed, in part due to the embossing I had applied with a "silver" oil pencil (which was aluminum - ex : the raindrops!) to the original drawing on black paper so I've adjusted the digital image's tone, saturation, etc., and present for you here what is hopefully a more viewable version of my drawing:

Here's a sneak peek at a brand new fanciful figure study as yet incomplete: Natalie's New Chapeau ! Efforts to complete Natalie are planned and are on my drawing board , we might say. Here you see a new fanciful figure study , Portrait of Brunella , created with a combination of Prismacolor oil pencils and Rexel Derwent watercolour pencils (dry) on black paper. And because viewing Art is healing, the symbol for Chiron , the healer and the key , is snugged in there somewhere!

Here's a drawing from a few years ago titled, Par-Tay! which seems appropriate for the just-passed holidays. Par-Tay! , with its masks and Chirotic poses, was originally posted to my Cosmic Persona Designs collection but I shuttered it because Google and a few viewers couldn't handle chiffon-clad figure studies. Guess the old adage, Don't Go To those Places wasn't in their lexicon! Feeling a little nostalgic today, my last day of a 34-year career. Plus, new babies are on my mind so here is a re-posting of my drawing, Buddha-esque Baby ... Does he look serene and wiser than his year? Still working on my entry for Sketchbook 2012 Project and happily I found out (thanks, Caitlin!) that my sketchbook isn't due until the end of April (because I signed up after November 2, 2011) rather than January 31-- quelle relief to find I have more weeks in which to complete the project which at this point is about 2/3 done! No, this image isn't the usual fare here at the Secret Moon Art Gallery, but having been under the weather the last several days (now on the mend!) this drawing demonstrates how I feel today better than any whining words of wimpiness ever could, and represents my measley effort to Let Art Speak! Totally made this up--to my knowledge there are no such things as Blue Trumpet Flowers, but there is moonlight and my imagination. Which reminds me...I heard that the Hollywood writers' strike may be ending soon which is good because I want to see more episodes of my favorite new show: Moonlight. I'm not a fan of the vampire normally but a humanitarian vampire is a difficult paradox to ignore! ~:~ Yes, Moonlight came back from the writers' strike but was cancelled at the end of its run - which grumped me up considerably. Anti-kudos to CBS. :-(

Lady Unmasking is drawn and published in honor of the Feb 7, 2008 Solar Eclipse in the 10 North Series. Keyphrases for this Series which last manifested on Jan 26, 1990 (so similar issues may resurface from that time period) are: strong emphasis on communications; frustrating or inhibiting events occur relating to news, paperwork, or a young person; a draining of energy--take things quietly for there's an element of fatigue with this Series. (Brady's Predictive Astrology. ) Yes, Lady Unmasking is a bit of a departure for Secret Moon Art, for my figure studies and mask-related images are usually published at Cosmic Persona Designs with Children's, Botanical, and Fairy Art published here at SMA. Plus, I hope you don't mind a smidge of Astrology with your Art today! I have sashayed into Astrology here before--it is Secret Moon Art, after all. Why "Unmasking"? The reason some folk call this the Unmasking Eclipse is because it falls at "18Aquarius"...
